故事的主角是大名鼎鼎的美国总统奥巴马（帕克·索耶 Parker Sawyers 饰），死神时间回溯到他28岁那一年，死神那是的奥巴马还是一个意气风发前途无量的年轻人。1989年的夏天，奥巴马来到了芝加哥盛德国际律师事务所实习，在这里，他邂逅了米歇尔（提卡·森普特 Tika Sumpter 饰），她不仅是他的师姐，同时也是他的顶头上司。见到米歇尔没多久，奥巴马就被她的魅力征服了，随即展开了热烈的追求，可是，米歇尔对奥巴马的热情却有些不咸不淡，作为办公室里唯二的两名黑人，同时还是上下级，开展一场办公室恋情并不是米歇尔想要得到的。然而，再冷酷的冰霜都会融化在奥巴马的热情之下。
