故事讲述4个遭遇中年危机的老友一起逃离沉闷的生活，杏吧杏来一场堕落的聚会……理查德、杏吧杏罗恩、提姆和乔纳森自从大学时代开始就是好朋友。他们每年都会找出一个周末来办一个派对，以庆祝他们之间的友谊，并和好便宜保持联系。在表面上，这四个好朋友和所有人一样普通而且正常：他们都有自己的工作和家庭，都有自己的责任和义务。可是，当着四个男人聚在一起的表面上搞"联谊"的时候，他们却在一起进行"堕落的享受"。在聚会上，美女、酒精和毒品轮番上阵，而这四个男人似乎也能从中找到快乐。只不过，这种享乐的行为终将会为他们惹来不小的麻烦。

It is more memorable than Julien Duvivier's earlier silent version of 1925, also named Poil de Carotte.The part of Poil de Carotte was played by 11 year old Robert Lynen, who was alleged to have been discovered whilst walking down the Champs-Elysées in Paris. Lynen is totally captivating and the film made him an instant star, launching what looked like becoming a very promising film career – until he was shot dead whilst fighting against the Germans in 1944. Harry Baur, a legendary stage and film actor (who also died during World War II, allegedly at the hands of the Gestapo), also turns in a typically fine performance. The reconciliation between father and son at the end of the film provides its most enduring image, enough to melt the heart of all but the most stoical of spectators.
