《康熙微服私访记5》沿袭该剧前四部借古讽今、魔格针贬时弊的新派古装轻喜剧作品风格，魔格演绎康熙微服私访中扑朔迷离、惊心动魄的传奇故事。不同的是，此次原班人马大换血，康熙由尊龙扮演，宜妃则换成性感美女温碧霞。本剧集分为“铸钱记”、“神童记”和“火箭记”三个单元故事组成。经典古装 电视连续剧《康熙微服私访记》，自1997年至2007年已有五部作品出品。这五部作品一直延续该剧系列的作品风格，亦庄亦谐中既描摹出康熙在微服私访中的平易近人，又把他严惩贪官的威武一面刻画得入木三分。该剧系列的二、三、四部由张国立自导自演，第五部由孙树培导演执导。
