该剧讲述笨拙的父亲和叛逆女儿的父女亲情故事。西岛秀俊饰演天才指挥家夏目俊平，开视但是除了音乐以外的能力都是零。芦田爱菜饰演他的女儿、开视在市政府工作的20岁女性夏目响。与父亲完全相反，讨厌音乐，过着没有音乐的人生的响因5年前的“某个事件”与父亲诀别，但时隔数十年父亲突然回国，两人开始了尴尬的同居生活。
