回复 :当从曼哈顿搬到高尚住宅区斯戴佛之后，乔安娜（妮可•基德曼 饰）与丈夫（马修•布罗德里克 饰）都准备好了新生活的开始。乔安娜本想打好与邻居之间的关系，可是一众邻居太太的性格都将近完美，让乔安娜感到她们都无法靠近。这群有钱的太太中只有一名叫芭比的太太例外，她是乔安娜眼中的正常人，她俩也成为了好友。其他太太们每天都忙着照顾自己的丈夫，对丈夫言听计从。乔安娜与芭比都感到十分好奇，为何邻居太太们似乎没有自己的脾气与喜好。于是她们决定一查究竟，调查结果让她们惊讶不已，有钱的男人竟然把自己的太太变成了机器人，以求他们的妻子都千依百顺。这些一半人类一半机器的太太们背后有着“公开的秘密”，这样的黑手，也逐渐伸向乔安娜与芭比，她们将如何应对呢？
