影片聚焦鲍尔和阿纳兹，游侠现实中是夫妻的两人在经典情景喜剧《我爱露西》也出演一对，游侠片名中的“里卡多”是两人在剧中角色的姓，故事设定在《我爱露西》拍摄中的一个工作周，从周一的剧本围读到周五的有观众拍摄，在此期间两人遭遇了巨大危机，事业可能终结，婚姻也可能泡汤。历史上，是鲍尔向《我爱露西》剧方要求自己的丈夫阿纳兹也出演该剧(本剧改编自鲍尔的热门广播剧)，CBS一度不太愿意，担心观众不喜欢看一个很“美国”的女主角与一个古巴裔男子在一起。
