八十年代初期的邵氏电影，乱伦在赌片上下的工夫显然是比较大。比如这部投资不大、乱伦效益却不小的《打雀英雄传》，就是其中的一个代表作。刚刚在电视银屏上塑造完赌王形象的谢四哥，再度重操旧业，扮演起了足智多谋的麻雀英雄，角色尚算是有情有义。故事围绕着年青电脑专家钱小豪展开，四哥为了帮他，避免其麻雀馆落入麻雀千王败类岳华手上，不惜重新出山与其鏖战，双方斗智，最终胜出一筹。
