《姐姐》是一部以“心灵的洗礼和觉醒”为主题的电影，黄片于2004年开始拍摄。影片讲述了一个在富足家境中长大的城市小孩，黄片在随父亲乡下探亲的过程中，认识了隔壁邻居沉默寡言“姐姐”，从开始调皮捉弄她，到逐渐了解她，被她所生活的贫困环境所震惊，内心接受的一场洗礼，孩童善良的本质逐渐展现。影片运用了大量的长镜头，是一部很抒情的作品，在马来西亚、新加坡、泰国等国家先后上映，获得了广泛好评。也是在这部作品中，奠定了谢家良导演作品的温情主题，并在以后的作品中延续下去。

It is more memorable than Julien Duvivier's earlier silent version of 1925, also named Poil de Carotte.The part of Poil de Carotte was played by 11 year old Robert Lynen, who was alleged to have been discovered whilst walking down the Champs-Elysées in Paris. Lynen is totally captivating and the film made him an instant star, launching what looked like becoming a very promising film career – until he was shot dead whilst fighting against the Germans in 1944. Harry Baur, a legendary stage and film actor (who also died during World War II, allegedly at the hands of the Gestapo), also turns in a typically fine performance. The reconciliation between father and son at the end of the film provides its most enduring image, enough to melt the heart of all but the most stoical of spectators.
