刑警邰林（潘粤明 饰）偶遇自杀女孩刘云（袁泉 饰），社癸声急忙上前施救，社癸声刘云告诉他，因男友欺骗自己感情她已结束其生命，但后来的结果却是个令人哭笑不得的闹剧。原来刘云是个话剧演员，为体验生活出来找灵感，邰林对她既生气又喜欢。几天后，邰林如约来到老地方见面，刘云央他帮忙寻找曾经救 过自己命的男人白驹（王刚 饰）。处于职业习惯，邰林对刘云的身世也做了一番调査，知道她没有父亲。又过一段时间，刘云带邰林一起去见自己的母亲李文竹（崔敏捷 饰），此时李文竹神情恍惚，已不谙世事。通过调査，邰林发现白驹与一桩多年前的凶杀案有扯不清的联系，邰林陷入苦闷之中，他不知刘云与白驹是什么关系，在偶然看到的一份杂志上，他推断出白驹就是刘云的父亲......
