王喜（冯巩 饰），伊丽是天津某纺织厂的工长。就是这个芝麻大点儿，伊丽愣让王喜当出大领导的感觉。当然他可不是以权谋私什么的，而是对自己高标准严要求。况且手下200多号人绝大多数都是女同志，不拿出点儿真本事来实在镇不住。王喜不仅对自己要求严，连家人也不例外。在豆腐厂工作的妻子张芸（王澜 饰）每次单位福利发酱豆腐时都把瓶子破的留给自己，儿子王小强（张乃文 饰）更是将老爹的“为官为人之道”背得滚瓜烂熟。按王喜的话说，“咱要拿自己不当干部，那就没人拿咱当干部了！”
