该片是一部三段式主题（爱和性）电影，爆笑由米开朗基罗•安东尼奥尼（《危险临界点》）、爆笑史蒂文•索德伯格（《平衡》）和王家卫（《手》）三位导演联合执导。《手》讲的是1960年代的香港，年轻的裁缝（张震）多年不计回报地爱着交际花华小姐（巩俐）的故事，影像华丽，充满了质感又略带伤感。《平衡》的故事发生在1950年代的纽约，广告人尼克•彭罗斯（罗伯特•唐尼）总是被春梦困扰，只得向他的心理医生珀尔（阿兰•阿金）求助，基调虽荒谬反常，却也可看成颇有自嘲意味的幽默喜剧。《危险临界线》则仍是安东尼奥尼一向关注的现代社会中的男女关系主题，哲学味道浓烈。

回复 :At the time of the Polish social regime, a security officer is promoted to work at a prison yard. Introducing concurrently with the narrator; he speaks of himself, his thoughts, his point of view. He tells that he is not afraid of bandits or gangs; on the contrary he gets a kick out armed conflicts. To get a start in his new duty, he shops for a watchdog; and he buys an untrained attack dog as his companion. Then he speaks of the adjudications that the death sentence for fugitives is lacking influence. From his point of view, the judicatory tribunal must execute the fugitives in public. In the morning the next day he wears his uniform and start working with pride.Whilst he is on his duty, a very harmonic music score begins to be played on the piano. The watchman spectates the peaceful life on the street. At that time we catch on that socialism is not a governmental regime; yet it's an uneducated behavior.As a final scene the watchman witnesses of a cadet school's pupils being taught of the democracy. 回复 :本片改编自著名剧作家田纳西·威廉斯的同名戏剧。徐娘半老风味犹存的“南部美女”白兰芝（费雯丽）因“不适当”的行为被解除家庭教师职务后，来到新奥尔良投靠妹妹。妹妹家在一栋肮脏的公寓内，其丈夫斯坦利（马龙·白兰度）是波兰移民的儿子，性格粗鲁莽撞，且酗酒嗜赌。因为从小娇生惯养 ，受过旧式的南方教育，白兰芝多少有些神经质，她认为斯坦利是个很没教养的人，而斯坦利也正因为她所表现出的娇弱敏感，认为她会带坏自己的妻子，甚至威胁到他作为家中主人的地位，对她时常加以言语侮辱以示憎恶。在这样的环境中，白兰芝的悲剧一点点展开。
