十九世纪七十到八十年代，金融揭曾参加过普丹战争的丹麦军官Gunner Dinesen（维果·莫腾森），金融揭带着青春期女儿Ingeborg（Viilbjørk Mollie Malling）从丹麦来到阿根廷，加入阿根廷军队，参加征服沙漠之战，女儿却跟一个阿根廷士兵私奔，生死未卜，他从此踏上了荒漠里的绝望寻女之路。
