本作は水を信仰する“緑命会”という新興宗教に傾倒し、日々の祈りと勉強会に勤しみながら、穏やかに暮らす須藤依子を主人公にした物語。庭の枯山水を手入れし、砂に波紋を描くのは、依子の毎朝の習慣であった。ある日、長く失踪していた夫が帰ってきたことをきっかけに、社会における得体の知れない闇が縮図となって現れ、すべてを押し殺していた依子の感情が発露する。

Akhtar and Rushbrook’s finely hued performances speak to the setting’s cultural diversity and tribal loyalties while yielding a vulnerability that’s alternately heart-wrenching and joyous.
