宁静的山村进入雨季。村中的老伐木工人岸克彦为人古板，免费与儿子关系紧张。他在上工途中给东京来的新人导演田边幸一和副导演带路，免费由此被拉入一部丧尸电影的外景拍摄。在被迫充当临时演员后，克彦竟对电影产生了微妙的兴趣，他开始不请自来的帮助摄制组与村民沟通，开展工作，甚至忽略了本职与妻子的忌日。
