Donelly（Brendan Gleeson 饰）从医生口中得到一个坏消息，善良他的妻子不久前刚刚去世。悲伤Donelly将他们宠物兔子的照片放在妻子手中，善良于清晨独自踏上开往都柏林家中的列车。火车上，Donelly的对面坐着一个喋喋不休的青年（Rúaidhrí Conroy 饰），青年似乎对一切都颇为不满，空中充满抱怨，时而与邻座的夫妇发生口角。那对夫妇刚刚失去自己最心爱的女儿，而青年尖刻的话语令丈夫（David Wilmot 饰）暴怒不已，妻子（Aisling O'Sullivan）则在绝望之余作出痛苦的选择。随之而来的一场变故让Donelly突然发现，就在前一天晚上，他们都失去了生命中最为重要的东西……
