电影由三个短片组成。染布坊的主人虽然表面看来温文尔雅，日本实际上却是一个残暴的性虐狂。每一天夜里，日本她的妻子都会受到丈夫的折磨，痛苦和绝望之中，妻子选择将一切的悲愤倾诉给一个布娃娃听，哪知道随着时间的推移，布娃娃成了精，它替女子打抱不平，决定向染布坊的主人寻仇。一个猎人子机缘巧合之下救下了一只小狐狸，哪知道这是一只小狐仙。之后，猎人遭遇了女鬼的纠缠，不断的被吸食精气，小狐仙得知猎人性命危在旦夕，决定挺身相救。女主人和店里雇佣的店小二私通已久，随着时间的推移，两人渐渐的不满足于现在的关系，他们开始谋划杀死店主。
回复 :1982 奥斯卡最佳外国语影片： 匈牙利导演萨博本片以德国现代戏剧史上最伟大的演员格斯特夫.古鲁丹斯真实的一生为依据电影《摩菲斯特》描述了一个在二战中与德国人委曲求全合作的演员，最后仍被德国人抛弃的故事。片名“摩菲斯特”本意就指的那些与魔鬼合作的人。主人公在心理上自始至终处于卑微懦弱的地位，虽然德国人也给了他很多的荣耀，但这仍无发改变其事实上和心理上的犹太人身份，但这一切并未得到深刻的体现。终于，在影片结尾处得到了一切都爆发出来，这也是本片的高潮。
