督察江子山（陈锦鸿 饰）头脑冷静，国产思想慎密，国产做事客观，虽与独断独行的沙展徐飞（古天乐 饰）合作，但仍能以柔制刚，充份利用对方敏锐的直觉和丰富的经验，屡破奇案。在江子山的帮助下，徐飞也立下不少大功，事业亦见起色，性格迥异的二人成为了好搭档和好朋友。生活中，他们二人都纠缠 于两段解不开的感情。江子山和女朋友文婉兰（佘诗曼 饰）相恋多年，感情稳定，文婉兰的好朋友唐心如（李珊珊 饰）却对江子山一见钟情，文婉兰因为父亲的案件入狱后，江子山和唐心如的慢慢有所发展，但是随着文婉兰的出狱，二人感情开始动摇。徐飞对失踪多年的女朋友梁芊芊（向海岚 饰）一直无法忘情，直到遇上警队的心理专家武俏君（宣萱 饰），二人擦出火花，并准备结婚。此时，徐飞突然收到梁芊芊的消息，新欢旧爱之间，面临艰难的抉择。
